General Jinjur is another character from the Oz books, written by L. Frank Baum about a hundred years ago. Like I mentioned in my Tiktok pic, they're really awesome books, so I'd highly recommend that you pick up a few of the books at your local library or bookstore. :D

Jinjur was a simple farm girl from Oz, but her patriotism knew no bounds. After the events of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz," which is similar to the "Wizard of Oz" movie (which you should know the story of), the Scarecrow is installed as the Ruler of Oz. Jinjur, being the socially-conscious person she is, didn't like this very much. I mean, he's a SCARECROW!! Who would want a scarecrow leading their country?

So Jinjur rallies an army (of women, based on the idea that her army will be stronger that way, since no man will strike a pretty girl, "and there is not one ugly face in my entire army!" she said) and storms Emerald City. She drives the Scarecrow from the throne, fights a battle with the powerful army of Glinda the Governor of the North Country of Oz (also known as Gillikin Country, or the Purple Sector), and sets herself up as temporary ruler of Oz. She remains in power until a legitimate ruler is revealed in the form of Ozma of Oz, a decendant from the original line of Oz rulers. Jinjur voluntarily relinquishes the throne to her, and returns home to settle down, knowing that her country is ruled by a rightful leader. :D

I enjoyed designing her military suit, which again was based on the drawings by John R. Neill. The book mentions that Jinjur and her army fashion weapons from knitting needles, so that's what the thing on her arm is. ;)

Just one last little note...one thing that the Wizard of Oz movie messed up for all eternity was the idea that Munchkins are little people/midgets. That use of the word has become so common that I think it's even in the dictionary. HOWEVER...in the books, people from Munchkin Country (aka Blue Sector) of Oz are just normal-sized people. Jinjur herself is actually a Munchkin, and she's obviously no midget!! :XD:

The Tin Man (original name Nick Chopper) was also a Munchkin, before he was turned into a cyborg.

...Her book must be one of the ones I never found. I remember Jinjur showing up in a few of the later ones, though... She was pretty cool. I'm not surprised you liked her. :P Awesome uniform, I love the spikes on her arms (which look a great deal like a certain feature on Jango Fett's armor... Hmm....). You put so many little details onto your costumes that really make them fun to look at.

Poor Scarecrow.

Yeah, Jinjur had a few cameo appearences in the other books - more for humor, but awesome nonetheless.

Oh, you like the spikes!! Awesome...they're supposed to be fashioned from knitting needles; the books said that Jinjur's army used their knitting needles as weapons, and I imagined that Jinjur might have rigged up something special with them. It wasn't influenced by Jango, I promise! :XD:

Haha, yes, the Scarecrow pretty much surrendered immediately. :)

I just remember her being a very firm, strong-minded character. :D Not surprised you like her.

That is very clever, I never would have thought of that!

Superheroes are good!! I can always dig those. :D

Ozma is pretty darn cool; she and the Rose Princess are close to Jinjur in terms of being my favorite Oz character.

Oz always seemed a little bit steampunk to me - I always saw the books as more of a sci-fi epic than a fantasy/fairyland type of place, ever since I was little!! :XD:

I see Oz as both steam-punk and magic working in tandem
for me Oz the perfect mix of sci-fi and fantasy/"fairyland" type stuff

but magic or not I love all things Oz
be it book, movie, comic, or whatever, just give me Oz

also I'm so very glad I got to use the name Tip here
I love Ozma and see her and Jinjur as kind of being Tom-boys
maybe Ozma's not as big of tom-boy as me
but thats why I picked her male name not her normal one
and don't get me wrong I have a girly side too,
right now my nails are panted a bight color called Emerald City
it's just one more Oz thing in my day heehee

I have loved Oz as long as I can remember but did not read the books till I was in my late teens ealy 20s
I fell in love with Oz all over then
the 2nd book is my favorite and I just loved Tip
sadly by almost the end I guessed the plot twist and thought
oh well I guess if I liked him as a boy I'm sure I'll like him as a girl
and I did but I think I like him/her as Tip just a bit more then as Ozma

I should stop here I talk to much even when typing lol
again it's always nice to met an Oz fan
and talking about Oz never gets old
I love how no two people see Oz the same way I think thats part of what makes Oz so great it has/is something for everyone
