This is a rough concept design I sketched up that shows what I think Classic Star Trek body armour might have looked like. It's made up of seperate PlasSteel plates that you can put on (like a shirt) overtop of the standard uniform.

As you can tell from the badge, this armor is from the USS Exeter. ;)

I always wondered why trek, especially TOS didn't have armor. Then I realized, MONEY! :p
Good stuff.
Slightly reminiscent of Stormtrooper armor, but that's not a bad thing.

Well, I think "time" was more of a factor. TOS was one of Paramount's most expensive shows at the time, next to "Mission: Impossible."

I think everything is reminiscent of Stormtrooper armor!! :XD:

Not to mention the fact that a phaser or disruptor would vaporize armour AND officer.

It looks like the Iron Man suit. Either that, or Boba Fett's armor. Either way, AWESOME!!!
