CHECK OUT THE 3D RENDER HERE, BY "GOOD FRIAR!!" ---> [link]

An episode of the non-canon Doctor Who Series 3, "Daleks in Manhattan," featured Daleks in 1930's New York City. I heard David Tennant, who plays Doctor Who, mention in an interview that there would be "Art Deco Daleks" featured in the episode. Which of course got me thinking...what would an "Art Deco Dalek" look like??

Later on of course, we saw that Tennant's words were as bogus as the rest of the New Series, but I had been inspired none-the-less. :XD:

Then of course I designed/drew it. I'm more of a Victorian guy, and I wasn't too familiar with Art Deco designs (Art Deco being the prevalent design in the 1930's). So I got a bunch of books on Art Deco from the library and studied up. My first attempt at an Art Deco Dalek came out looking WAY too 1950's, and I wasn't happy with it. This version was inspired by the front of The Crusader, which is a train that used to operate for the Reading Railroad back in the 1930's.

Daleks are copyright of the Terry Nation Estate.

Ooooh, can it play music?! XD It reminds me of a jukebox!
Totally awesome! I love the LINES, how can you make them look so smooth and curved and WELL DRAWN? XD

Looks a little too bulky IMO, but then again it has a great Studebaker-esque look to it, making it fit perfectly with the 30's era.

Half crazy, all intelligence.
LOL Yeah, it sorta does look like a jukebox!! :D

The lines are all hand-drawn, believe it or not. I sit down in front of my table, take out my inking pens, and trace the pencil lines. I then "clean" the work with a big pink eraser. As for how I get them to be straight...I don't know!! Only that some of the lines didn't come out as straight as I would have preferred... *grumble*

:D

Great!! I was really obsessing over those bent lines...I was afraid this would be laughed at as my worst failure ever!! LOL
